Overcome the World: Pruning the Branches

My Starting Place is Always in Victory

This is what I have learned from the Holy Spirit in how to approach any issue, situation, dysfunction, that the world, the flesh, or the devil has invaded my life with. My starting place is from a position of victory. I enter His rest every day of my life as I live out His will in the world but not of it. There are Two Kingdoms to choose from: The Kingdom of Darkness or The Kingdom of Light. I choose the Kingdom of Light, however, I do so from my residence in Jesus. Doing life “in my own strength” is not His Way, His Truth, or His Life. He knows my path–I will follow. Victory is always in Jesus–I cannot do life on my own. His perfect will is in doing life with Him.

Overcome the World: Pruning the Branches

If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers. Such branches are gathered up, thrown into the fire, and burned–John 15:6

Overcoming the world is like a pruning–the branches in us that are not abiding in Jesus need to be cut off and burned by the Baptism of fire. The Baptism of fire is a refining and consuming fire–it is the fire of the presence of God which is also the manifestation of Light.

“Overcome the world” means trusting God when I am ready to give my “stuff” to Him. That means giving God the people, places, things, sins, and addictions that I have chosen. When I draw near to Him–He will draw near to me. Repentance is really no big deal. Repentance is releasing one way of thinking and choosing another way. Changing my mindset to embrace the idea that I am given repentance unto life rather than repentance from something bad or destructive; keeping the focus on the life I was destined for rather than the issue at hand.  I say this because the focus of repentance is life rather than sin. I can’t do this alone. The thing is, as a believer I have access to the throne of God to cry out for help. And guess what. It gives glory to God to allow Him to manifest the impossible in my life. I have restoration in Jesus every single day. He takes what is broken and makes it whole–He does not need to start over because He loves to show His Glory by fixing the broken pot like it was before it was broken.

Break Every Chain

One of the things that has assisted me on my healing journey is  journaling. I Ask God to show me the “root” of my behavior, addiction, or sin in terms of where it began. That means getting in touch with my wounded heart, soul, and mind. In order to be free, I need to look at where bondage began. That is the foundational reason for the destructive behavior to begin with. I bury the mess caused by the dictates of the world, the flesh, and the devil because I died to it. Jesus knows how replace the negativity remaining in any issue. I remember that forgiveness is the healing balm that heals. I begin with thanksgiving when entering the willingness to forgive.   Jesus is more than capable of delivering me; breaking every chain because He came to “set the captives free.”

Creative Processing and Release

I have found a trusted friend, pastor, counselor, or family member to voice my pain.  At times, I need to get the pain out through all my senses.  I have found that drawing or Collage is helpful also. It is amazing what comes out in a drawing or Collage. Poetry has been a tool for me as well as music.  Jesus will bring what I need to notice, see, sense or fee under the light I can discern where an issue began. The source has grown a root system through my entire way of perceiving reality. God knows how to weed out the roots but I need to yield to His leading.  I ask: “Jesus, who are you in me” as I notice this issue or behavior? God wants to bring me into recognizing my original self so I can receive every blessing and freedom planned for from the foundation of the world;  to be who I AM in the I AM. I am entering into a deeper relationship with my Healer Jesus. That means allowing Jesus to love me into liberty by exchanging the old for the new!

Jesus Was There

Once I have identified the root that established the negative behavior, I close my eyes and go to the place where it began. I  look around you until I see where Jesus is in the picture. I see Jesus with me in the trauma, situation, memory. Thank Jesus for being there during this situation because even when I did not believe, You were there. Once more, He will never leave me nor forsake me.

This post is created when I was overcoming an addiction in my life. The first five days in overcoming were the most difficult. These are the crafted prayers I used in the first five days partnering with Holy Spirit to overcome.

Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30“For My yoke is easy and My burden is light (Matthew 28-30).

These scriptures are my life-line scriptures through partnering with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for healing from negativity.

In my distress, I called upon the Lord,
And cried out to my God;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry came before Him, even to His ears—Psalm 18:6

CRAFTED PRAYERS AND THANKSGIVING were my keys setting me free from bondage. I believe God has individual Keys for each person as they see the man/woman they are meant to be above any issues, trauma, pain, or shortcoming. The real me God designed from the beginning. The Lord promises that His joy will be my strength. Invite Jesus to draw close until I am embraced by His love.

The Living Word

The Word and the Spirit of God reveal the Rhema truth in my journey through this life. I Pray the Word until I “become” it and it will not return to me void. The Word is light in the darkness and prayer will be “a lamp to my feet.”

Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered (Hebrews 5:8).

You Are a One and Only

I have changed the perspective of this song because this is how I need Jesus in my life. He needs to be my one and only–which means to me “My first love.”

Jesus came to set the captives free. This is my life. It is precious and beautiful–Jesus wishes to bring every one into the fullness of this life and return you to be who you are from the inside out. Let go and allow Jesus to work the victory in you as you run the race of endurance to the end of your finish line. Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested (Hebrews 5:8). Jesus knows what we are tempted with and how to overcome. He is going to walk your deliverance out with us each step of the way.  Jesus is all about delivering His people from bondage–that means bondage to addictions: people, places, and things.

Day One, ready to make a change: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us” (Hebrews 12:1).

My Dear Beloved,

“Be still and know that I am God.” You are my precious child, my bride. I formed you from the foundation of the world and I have been with you every step of the way. Today you have faced something that is going to make you free. I know how you have begun this journey many times and believed you failed because you did not finish the race. You have not failed my beloved—you just thought you could do it alone. I will never fail you or forsake you. Place this burden on me and let me lead you all the way. I overcame the world, and I am here to help you do the same. We will overcome this thing together. I love you so deeply my precious one. Let me hold you and take away your pain once and for all.

Eternally Yours,

Jesus your Shepherd

Day Two, what to do: “Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken (Psalm 55:22).

My Dear Beloved,

I know how much courage it has taken you to get to this point of deciding to make a change in the thing that has weighed you down for many years. I have watched your suffering. But I have gathered all your tears so that I can bring you the oil of gladness today. Now that you know you cannot make it alone, continue to cast your burden on me. Let go and allow me to be the Lord of your life.  I will equip you if you just call out to me for help to do what you need to do in turning away from what has been chaining you down. My desire is to see you overcome the world–where you have been weak, it is my job to give you strength. Trust me, I will see you through because my grace is all-sufficient. I love you with an everlasting love. Let me love you even if you need me to teach you what that means. Just ask me to show you how much I love you.

Eternally Yours,

Jesus The Holy Spirit (The Comforter, Advocate

Day Three, My Promises: “the Lord appeared to them from a distance:
I have loved you with a love that lasts forever. And so with unfailing love,
I have drawn you to myself” (Jeremiah 31:3).

My Dear Beloved,

I know that people have let you down many times. This journey of deliverance is not about them right now. It is about you. The biggest secret I can give to you today is the secret of forgiveness. Forgive those who have caused you pain; most of all, forgive yourself. I will remove the consequences and turn tragedy and tribulation, to wisdom and understanding. This is your time to become all that I have created you to be. Stay in my Word and I will speak to you about my love and light that are for you today. I promise that nothing in all creation can separate you from my eternal love. I love you with an everlasting love. I will fill all the empty places that you have been trying to fill with people, places, things, sins, addictions with LOVE. My love overcomes the world of disappointment, rejection, abuse, self-condemnation, and fear. Remember this and never forget: I AM with you. I loved you before I created you in your mother’s womb. I loved knitting your unique soul together to be all I created in you. I know every hair on your head and kiss your forehead each night before I take you into sleep. Rest in Me.

Eternally Yours,

Jesus your First Love

Day Four, Freedom: “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
because the Lord has anointed Me
 to preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound . . . .” (Isaiah 61:1)

My Dear Beloved,

I know how much you would like to be the person you have always wanted to be. That does not mean you cannot enter into my rest right now or do works of righteousness. I want to love you through this time set aside for my work in you. Ask me to come into this time when you need help. Let me love you out of the dark night of your soul. Give me the pain. I am going to take you deep into your soul and heal your broken heart with a new heart of love and freedom. I am going to deliver you from this bondage and pour into your soul POWER  to break every chain that has held you back from being who I created you to be. There is just one of you my beloved, my bride. And that’s who I want at the Marriage Feast of the Lamb celebrating our eternal freedom together. I have overcome the world and we are going to celebrate your freedom right now because it is happening. Believe me, I will never fail or forsake you my precious one. I love you and call you by your true name. Ask me and I will tell you what that name is.

Eternally Yours,

Jesus your Deliverer

Day Five, Exodus: “Therefore, say to the people of Israel: ‘I am the LORD. I will free you from your oppression and will rescue you from your slavery in Egypt. I will redeem you with a powerful arm and great acts of judgment” (Exodus 6:6).

Dear My Beloved,

This is the day when temptation is going to be hard for you. Remember you have decided to change and I am with you to see that your heart’s desire is fulfilled. I want you to visualize what freedom means to you. You are no longer a slave to this thing.  My powerful right arm will hold back the waters of temptation and clear a path of freedom for your soul. You are on your way to overcoming this thing once and for all. The hard part is over. You may not believe this but one day, you will help others through this thing just like I am helping you now. Keep pressing in and I will walk this out with you even if I have to carry you. I love you. Your salvation is in what I am doing in you now.  I love you just the way you are right now. But just one day at a time let me continue to lead you out of all this bondage and set you free. Trust me because I want the best for you. Let me show you how much I love you by taking you by the hand and leading you into the Promised Land of my Kingdom within your soul. We have only just really begun. I want you to understand what the meaning of my love really is through every beautiful day of the rest of your life. Walk with me and talk to me. I need to hear your voice. Today I give you your new song.

Eternally Yours,

Jesus your Beloved
